As highlighted in our October 2019 update (https://rowpharma.org/community-health-workers-and-epilepsy/), ROW launched a partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) in the Linda Compound near Lusaka, Zambia. The partnership will test the effectiveness of using community health workers (CHWs) to provide ongoing support to households that include children impacted by epilepsy. The CHWs will also actively engage with leaders in schools, churches and community organizations to help address the harmful stigma around epilepsy.
We are thrilled at the strong start to this partnership and look forward to seeing what lessons are learned in the coming months. Based on a successful pilot in Zambia, we envision expanding our support for CHWs to additional countries.
. . . to everyone who participated in our GROW GLO campaign (https://rowpharma.org/help-grow-glo/). Contributions exceeded $3,500, with more coming in through monthly donations. This is enough to serve more than 200 people with epilepsy in Masindi, Uganda for five months with medication and support provided by Guiding Light Orphans (GLO) (https://www.guidinglightorphans.org).
“We are honored to be the beneficiaries of the kindness of so many.”
